St Paul’s Juniors / Academic

Reading for Pleasure

Reading for pleasure is a fundamental part of the St Paul's Juniors curriculum. Open from 8.30am - 4.30pm every day, the Library offers a range of fiction for all ages, plus graphic novels, audiobooks, newspapers and magazines. We house a wide range of non-fiction to support learning and encourage boys’ interests.

Our full-time librarian and part-time library assistant have an extensive knowledge of children's literature and encourage Junior Paulines to read widely. Boys come to the Library for one timetabled English lesson a week, and are welcome to use the Library at lunch, break times and after school.

Multiple copies of major titles are available to the boys upon publication, and tailored reading lists are available for each year group. The Library also houses a large and up-to-date DVD collection and a growing CD collection.

Author visits

Author events are arranged twice a year, across year groups. Boys have the opportunity to ask questions of best-selling authors, to hear about their writing processes, and to take away a signed book. These events are always hugely enjoyable, including recent visits from authors such as Simon Mayo, Marcia Williams, Charlie Higson, Damian Dibben and John Boyne.
